  1. Another great episode! I found that after watching the shootout video my thought is that the mic you use is far less important than mic placement and mixing technique. It’s definitely important, but there are many other factors that will have a bigger impact on the final result. And as Graham said in the shootout – any of the mics could be used in the final mix and have a great result. This is good news for those of us with only 1 or a handful of mics. Kind of the same thing you guys have been saying all along. Develop your skills and taste and you can get killer results without much gear. Really appreciated how this was explained in the podcast and shootout video.

  2. I am curious as to which mic actually won the shoot out?

I own some expensive mics and also the Rode NT1A. I absolutely agree that the more important question is – which mic sounds best on the individual’s voice.

My thought on the shootout was the Neumann 102. The clarity of Neumann mics just seem to cut through a mix better than most most mics.

    So… which one won?
